Drop by Drop
We are dedicated to providing the safest pasteurized breastmilk to local babies in need.
You can help.
We are proud to be the only not-for-profit milk bank in the Pacific Northwest!
Our mission is to improve the health and survival of the Northwest's most vulnerable babies. Our mission is based on the belief that every baby deserves access to human milk. Community, health, compassion, integrity, and generosity are the values that guide the work we do.
Who We Are:
We are a group of dedicated staff and volunteers who carry out our mission through the safe collection and distribution of human donor milk, education, advocacy and research.
What We Do:
Screen donor mothers for their health.
Pasteurize donated breastmilk and test it for bacteria.
Distribute safe donor milk by prescription to infants when their own mother’s milk is not available.
Why We Do It:
NWMMB envisions a Northwest region where every baby has access to the human breastmilk they need. Breastmilk (including donor milk) increases the health and survival of babies. Research shows that for premature, ill, and vulnerable infants, breastmilk shortens hospital stays and can prevent serious complications. When a mother’s own milk is not available, donor milk plays a vital role.
Please consider joining our mission by donating today.
Preemies can weigh as little as 1.1 lbs at birth.
Help tip the scales in their favor.
Did You Know?
In the absence of the infant’s own mother’s milk, pasteurized donor breastmilk offers many of the same benefits for the infant such as optimal nutrition, easy digestibility, and immunologic protection against many organisms and diseases.
