Our Community Care programs make human milk accessible to babies facing medical challenges and families facing financial hardship, but there is a special group that doesn’t fit neatly into those two boxes: families in which the mother has passed away.
A legacy of love, a foundation
for the future
The United States has the highest rate of maternal deaths among high-income countries. Through Abi’s Fund, we can provide a trusted source of safe, pasteurized donor milk for a Northwest family in mourning and take at least one worry off their plate. This fund can grant a mother’s wish to feed her baby human milk—even after her passing.
Abi’s Fund was established to honor the legacy of Abirami Goyal, whose daughter received donor milk from Northwest Mothers Milk Bank after her passing in 2024. It is funded by generous contributions from passionate supporters like you.
